NovaDAX Closure in 2026: Trading Shutdown and October 30 Deadline
NovaDAX stopped trading in July 2026 but later extended crypto withdrawals to October 30. Why Brazil's exchange exited, and what customers face.

On this page
On 1 October 2026, NovaDAX said about one-quarter of its customers had not withdrawn their cryptocurrency. The Brazilian exchange had stopped trading three months earlier. Its latest deadline for withdrawing crypto was 30 October 2026.
That figure describes customers, not the value of deposits or the amount lost. Trading had ended, but customer withdrawals had not. The repeated deadline changes became a central part of the closure.
NovaDAX stopped trading in July. Why were customers still there in October?
NovaDAX announced on 8 June that it would discontinue its Brazilian cryptocurrency brokerage. It stopped accepting new registrations and buy orders, closed further deposits on 12 June, and permitted sales only until 30 June. The operator's July notice confirmed the matching engine had been disabled on 1 July.
Customers still had access to withdrawals and account records, but not normal trading. Paxful's withdrawal-only arrangements show why an accessible account does not mean an exchange is operating.
NovaDAX was an established Brazilian venue. InfoMoney reported on 9 June that Cointrader Monitor placed it fifth by domestic cryptocurrency trading volume. That is a reported historical ranking, not a market-share estimate or evidence of the amount customers had deposited.
Three deadlines for the same crypto withdrawals
Some NovaDAX pages still displayed older deadlines after extensions were announced. The distinction between trading and withdrawal cutoffs also mattered in ProBit Global's phased 2026 closure.
| Date | What changed | Documented source |
|---|---|---|
| 8 June | Wind-down announced; new purchases stopped | Exame, 8 June 2026 |
| 30 June–1 July | Sales ended and trading engine stopped | NovaDAX notice |
| August | Original crypto withdrawal cutoff, described as August 30 or 31 across company notices | NovaDAX July notice |
| 24 August | Deadline extended to 30 September | Portal do Bitcoin |
| 1 October | Deadline extended again to 30 October; described as final | Broadcast |
The later October report supersedes the August and September schedules for the purposes of this article. As of 24 October, 30 October is still a future deadline. We cannot yet report that every customer withdrew or that all remaining assets were converted.
The company's snapshots measured different things. On 24 August, about 30% of crypto assets were still held in custody, according to Portal do Bitcoin. By 1 October, about 25% of customers had yet to withdraw crypto.
The first percentage concerns assets; the second concerns people. Neither is a confirmed customer-loss or recovery rate.
What happens to crypto left after 30 October?
NovaDAX's closure FAQ describes compulsory conversion of unwithdrawn digital assets into Brazilian reais (BRL). The operator said conversions would use market conditions when executed, with less-liquid tokens potentially processed in batches.
This changes the nature of the customer's holding. A person who leaves a particular token in the account may ultimately receive a BRL balance instead, based on the execution price determined during conversion. The stated procedure does not guarantee a future exchange rate or prove that conversion has already finished.
The company told Broadcast in October that converted funds would subsequently be available for withdrawal through Pix. It had not provided a final deadline for those BRL payouts. Thus the 30 October cryptocurrency cutoff is not necessarily a deadline for withdrawing fiat currency.
Japan's LINE BITMAX closure also involved converting remaining crypto into local currency. But the operators, payout channels and deadlines were different. Customers cannot assume one exchange's refund rules apply to another.
Daily withdrawal limits and delays
According to the published NovaDAX FAQ, standard accounts faced limits of R$100,000 per cryptocurrency per day and R$100,000 in BRL per day, with no cumulative lifetime cap stated. For customers with at least R$300,000 in portfolio assets, the specified daily limit was one-third of their portfolio per asset or for BRL withdrawals.
Large balances could require several withdrawals before the cutoff. The NovaDAX FAQ lists processing times of up to 48 hours for crypto and 56 hours for BRL requests. Network or account checks could add delays.
Withdrawal windows were also critical during Txbit's shutdown, although its exact requirements differed.
Those figures describe expected processing, not guaranteed completion. The withdrawal instructions also warn about incorrect networks, addresses and destination tags. CryptoBridge's gateway closure illustrates why withdrawal infrastructure matters even after trading stops.
After a crypto withdrawal is broadcast, a transaction ID provides independent evidence to check on the blockchain. A pending request shown in a dashboard is not equivalent to a confirmed transfer.
What drove the decision to leave Brazil?
NovaDAX described its exit as a planned strategic decision following a longer-term assessment of the Brazilian brokerage operation. In comments reported by Exame on 8 June, CEO Edward Zhang said the group had reviewed its business priorities. The company did not say a court had declared it bankrupt or that regulators had ordered an emergency shutdown.
The timing coincided with Brazil's development of a more detailed licensing regime for virtual-asset businesses. The Central Bank's Resolution BCB 519 sets out authorisation processes, while Resolution BCB 520 covers the formation and operation of virtual-asset service providers, including governance and capital provisions.
NovaDAX told Broadcast that regulatory constraints meant it could not continue custodying customer crypto after 30 October. That is the exchange's account of its own position. It should not be recast as proof that the Central Bank ordered the closure of NovaDAX or imposed the same custody deadline on every Brazilian platform.
The company had also ended a separate card and digital-account product in October 2024. But its 2024 announcement explicitly said crypto brokerage services would continue. Treating the earlier product closure as the date the whole exchange shut down would conflate two distinct decisions.
A closed exchange is not always a dissolved company
The NovaDAX FAQ describes an end to brokerage operations, not necessarily every business activity in Brazil. The reviewed evidence does not establish a bankruptcy judgment or court-appointed liquidator.
That differs from Bittrex Global's liquidation and customer-asset proceedings, which followed a separate legal process.
A closure date does not always tell customers when they must recover their funds. Across the history of closed cryptocurrency exchanges, trading often ended before withdrawals or claims were resolved.
NovaDAX stopped trading on 1 July. Its later crypto-withdrawal cutoff was 30 October. These dates marked different stages of the wind-down.
What affected customers should check
With the 30 October deadline approaching, customers should check the newest notice on the original NovaDAX website and contact verified support about their account and withdrawal status. They should keep copies of statements and transactions, especially because normal access to records is expected to change as the wind-down progresses.
Anyone withdrawing crypto should verify the receiving address, supported network and any memo or tag before submitting a transfer. Customers holding BRL should separately confirm the Pix deadline rather than assuming the crypto date applies to fiat payments as well.
NovaDAX has warned about fake advertisements and impersonation. An unsolicited promise to recover cryptocurrency, especially one demanding private keys or a new payment, should not be accepted as an official account-recovery process.
Reporting note
This account is checked to 24 October 2026. The current reported cryptocurrency withdrawal deadline is 30 October, according to the company information given to Broadcast on 1 October. Older operator web pages may still display earlier dates. We have not represented that future deadline as completed, conflated percentages for customers and crypto assets, or treated the exchange's planned compulsory conversion as a verified completed payment.
