Are there fees for buying Bitcoin with M-Pesa?

Yes. Fees can apply when buying Bitcoin with M-Pesa. What are the M-Pesa limits when buying Bitcoin?

M-Pesa allows up to KES 250,000 per transaction and up to KES 500,000 in transactions per day. The M-Pesa account-balance limit is also KES 500,000. What is the maximum amount of Bitcoin I can buy with M-Pesa?

You can fund up to KES 250,000 in a single M-Pesa transaction and up to KES 500,000 across M-Pesa transactions in one day. See the current M-Pesa limits.

Is it legal to buy Bitcoin with M-Pesa in Kenya?

Yes. Kenya has a legal framework regulating virtual-asset services, and using M-Pesa to fund a Bitcoin purchase does not change Bitcoin's legal status. The Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 took effect on 4 November 2025 and established the regulatory framework for virtual-asset service providers. M-Pesa is a payment rail and does not itself license or endorse Bitcoin services. Read our Kenya cryptocurrency regulation and VASP requirements guide for more detail.

Can I send Bitcoin bought with M-Pesa to another wallet?

Yes. Once your Bitcoin purchase is complete and the BTC is available in your Finlazo wallet, you can send it to a supported external Bitcoin wallet. Kenyan customers can verify using a valid national ID, passport or driver’s licence, together with any selfie or liveness verification required during onboarding. No. For a personal Finlazo account, use an M-Pesa account registered in your own name. The registered M-Pesa name should match the name on your verified Finlazo account. Third-party payments are not accepted for personal purchases.

How is the Bitcoin price in Kenyan shillings calculated?

Finlazo uses current Bitcoin market pricing together with the applicable currency-conversion rate to show an indicative BTC/KES value. The purchase quote shown at checkout is the figure that matters for your transaction because market prices and exchange rates can change continuously.

What should I do if the M-Pesa STK Push does not arrive?

First confirm that the phone number entered for the payment is correct and that the M-Pesa line is active. Check that your phone has network connectivity and that your M-Pesa account has enough balance for the payment. If the request expired or was cancelled, return to the order and follow the available retry instructions. If M-Pesa shows that money was deducted but your Finlazo order remains pending, do not immediately send another payment. Check the order status first and contact Finlazo support if the payment has been confirmed but has not been matched to your purchase.
